You can live your whole life without touching your toes. If it is difficult, how often have you heard it attributed to tight hamstrings? Have you known stretching your hamstrings to help?

The ability to touch your toes has more to do with the movement through your spine rather than tight hamstrings. The restrictions in your spine contributes to your tight hamstrings.

These classes will be examining all the components that allow freedom of movement through your spine. We’ll put it all together in a workshop by the end of the year.

Would you like to feel more comfortable sitting? Be it at the computer, in the car or reading a book, we sit a lot in our culture. We have all experienced the feeling of strain on the back or tight neck and shoulders after prolonged hours of sitting. In this series we will explore ways to sit more comfortably. In lessons both lying down on the floor and sitting on chairs we will find out how sitting can be a dynamic action done with less effort and greater ease.

In 2002 I was certified by Chan Zhang to teach what I consider a more feminine qigong form called Dance of the Phoenix. I was interested in studying with a woman because all of my previous qigong forms had been developed by men. This form has 5 sets of movements aimed at  harmonizing energy, massaging your organs, centering your chakras and auras and breaking up negativity. The figure eight, a symbol of infinity, is prominently used in the movements. You will receive written notes for each set at the end of class to help you with your practice so that you will have the full set by the end of the series. We will enhance the series by drawing from Feldenkrais and Bones for Life for our warm up, increasing the potential of the qigong sets.

Classes are small and can last from 1 to 1 ½ hours. If you are interested in participating in a daytime or evening Feldenkrais or Bones for Life class please let us know. A class can be started with 8 of your friends and consensus on day and time.
